The Hare & Hounds
The Hare & Hounds is at the top of the green and is popular for Sunday Lunch. The fare is typically British and often features a variety of different sorts of game. Portions are huge, and starters are eaten only in addition to main courses by the brave or foolhardy. Main courses range from £6.00 to £9.00 - but there is a choice of both the specials from the daily menu, and the standard menu - this offers some lower cost meals like bangers and mash.
The beer is good - a choice of real ales including IPA and Flowers. Wine by the glass is perhaps not quite the best - still a bit pub-like.
Children are perhaps not all that welcome - more of an adult pub than one for the family.
Staff are welcoming and pleasant, and mostly antipodean - a succession of travelers from the Southern Hemisphere!
